Engineer III (Mechanical Design Engineer) (2005-079)

Mechanical design and engineering of electrical cabinets/enclosures, mechanical devices, and components.
Capable of performing FEA thermal and structural analysis to properly determine product performance
Capable of generating technical design documentation (drafting) per proper drafting requirements and techniques as well as technical reports (design and/or test)
Capable of understanding product and military specifications and ensuring product compliance
Capable of understanding and communicating information relating to work tasks with peers as well as other Engineers and Managers
Validates product performance through analysis, simulation and laboratory test.
Provides budget and schedule updates to management
Capable of dealing with equipment breakdowns as well as assist with new equipment purchases/upgrades
Organizes daily work tasks such that the highest priorities are processed first
Attends seminars and independently takes actions which will maintain/advance technical knowledge
Maintains work area to ensure proper work task processing
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience and knowledge of mechanical engineering and design techniques and practices, required.
Proven experience in performing structural and thermal calculations and analysis with and without the aid of finite element techniques, required
Experience and knowledge of welded, bolted, machined, and formed metal enclosure assemblies and parts, required
Demonstrated experience of using 3-D CAD software for mechanical designs, required
Ability to generate mechanical technical reports and procedures
Ability to operate IDEAS Master Series CAD software, highly preferred, Unix platform is a plus
Knowledge of commercial and military specifications specifically ANSI Y14.5M and MIL-STD-100, a plus.
Effective communication skills, required.
Demonstrated experience with MS software, required.
Self-motivated and a team player required.

BS Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience significantly and directly related, required.
US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Confidential Security Clearance (CNSI minimum), required.
5 years of mechanical design experience required.
