Major Purpose

Performs basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.

Major Duties
•Applies existing applications to routine problems.
•Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications together with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
•Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
•Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
•Learns and applies Company engineering policies and practices; learns Company products.
•Executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.

Specific Purpose

This position is responsible for hardware and software design and development for advanced electrical systems on agricultural vehicles.

Position-specific Duties
•Analyze customer needs and marketing requirements to determine engineering specifications for new and improved electrical features and systems.
•Develop software algorithms and validate compliance with specifications on system hardware.
•Define, develop, and test electrical components, sub-systems, and complete vehicle systems (complex embedded control systems).
•Analyze machine systems using computer models to compare functionality, efficiency and productivity.
•Test complete vehicle systems quantitatively to verify that functional and performance requirements are met.
•Coordinate development activities with key internal and external electronic suppliers.
•Interface with marketing, product support, quality, supply management, and other functional areas on a daily basis.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
•BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
•Experience with C/C++ programming language and software development tools for embedded micro-controllers in mobile applications.
•Experience with electronic test tools and simulation tools to assist in analysis and verification.
•Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
•Farm background or previous work experience in the agricultural industry is desired.

Skills
•Skill in using company information systems and processes.
•Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
•Knowledge of the product development process.
•Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product.
•Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.

Experience
•Engineering experience.
•Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
•Product engineering experience.
•Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases.
•Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems.
