Design Technician I

We have an immediate need for qualified Design Technicians in our Houston District.

DESIGN TECHNICIAN I

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Receives training in the use of drafting equipment, performing calculations and preparing plans. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

DUTIES:
Performs some drafting in support of design activities; copies sketches and drawings prepared by others.Performs basic calculations.Learns to prepare plans.Performs some field work.Performs a combination of the following:
Files and makes copies.Assists with construction inspection.Serves on a survey crew.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from High School or equivalent plus one (1) year experience in drafting, design or a related area. College education in Engineerinig or Design related areas or technical training in drafting, design or plan preparation may be substituted for experience on a year-per-year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)

COMPETENCIES:

Some basic knowledge of
Higher mathematicsBuilding construction and contractor field procedures

Some skill in
Performing intermediate draftingPerforming basic design and draftingThe use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems

Ability to
Communicate effectivelyFollow verbal and written instructions
