Design Quality & Reliability Engineer

Reports to:Job Summary:
Design Quality & Reliability Engineers evaluate new products against internal and external product-safety and regulatory standards, provide technical and logistics/document support to Textron Corporate Counsel (legal) on all claims/lawsuits for product liability and performance, and manage Jacobsen’s intellectual property (IP) processes as they pertain to IP creation, application, and maintenanceResponsibilities to Include:
Interface with internal and external stakeholders to define product requirements for new designs; gather and analyze reliability data from a variety of sources.
Lead Engineering in constructing reliability testing requirements for new products, systems, and components
Establish statistically-based validation test plans and tests.
Lead the development of functional specifications across all product lines.
Lead the development of DFMEA’s across all product lines.
Review and approve test results to determine test acceptance (i.e. pass or fail).
Establish and maintain design quality documents, such as functional specifications, DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s and test plans.
Assist in the review of all designs and design changes.
Assist in problem solving/root cause analysis of failures on existing products and products under development.
Assists engineering in analyzing Test Incident Reports (TIR's).
Apply reliability analysis tools on test and field data to predict product reliability and failure rates.
Conduct life-cycle costs analyses.
Frequently lead projects or small project teams.
Occasionally provide training and informal mentoring on basic and advanced reliability tools and techniques.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.Position Requirements:
5 years of reliability engineering experience
1 to 3 years of experience with metal fabrication, welding, castings, and plastics.
ASQ certified reliability engineer highly preferred.
Strong computer skills; highly skilled with MS Office products and other applicable reliability engineering software.
Experience developing accelerated test plans desired.
Six Sigma certification and knowledge of the following tools/methodologies desired o Design of Experiments (DOE) o Quality Function Deployment (QFD) o Program/Project Management, with particular emphasis on project planning in MS Project or like software o New Product Development processes o Root cause analysis o Voice of the Customer data gathering and analysis.License and Certification Requirements:
