Design Engineer

Purpose: Our client in Vernon, CA, has an immediate need for a Solidworks Design Engineer.

Job Summary:
Design and development engineering for mechanical product or systems including mechanical directional control valves, regulator and other products used in industrial applications.

Essential Functions:
-Design and develop complex electro-mechanical components, mechanisms and systems for client products and test equipment to meet Design for Six Sigma criteria.
-Independently manage new product introduction process using 3 or 5 stage design (NPI process).
-Perform stress analysis using COSMOS software
-Create computer aided design (CAD) engineering models, prototype and production drawings using Solidworks software.
-Integrate analytical methods, effective design, material selection, manufacturing and finishing processes to create new or improved products.
-Provide technical support to supply chain and customers
-Support marketing and sales relative to new products and sustaining engineering activities.
-Support manufacturing in the design and development of mechanical fixtures and production equipment.

Requirements:
-BS in Engineering discipline
-Five or more years of demonstrated experience in the design and development of complex electro-mechanical components, mechanisms and system.
-Experience with computer aided design (CAD) program such as Solidworks and FEA program such as COSMOS.
-Experience with GD&T ANSI14.5
-Experience with writing test plan and conducting product testing
-Experience with DFMEA

Knowledge of:
Mechanical engineering design principles and concepts; manufacturing engineering methods and practices; cost estimation; just-in-time inventory procedures; dimensional and tolerance analysis; project management principles; material and component quality standards and specifications; statistical and reliability methods and techniques.

Ability to:
Evaluate the effectiveness, tooling and fixtures of new and modified engineering designs; assess the ability to manufacture a product design including required machining, casting, molding, and sheet metal stamping; estimate costs and time to design and manufacture a product design; create design solutions to customer applications; communicate effectively with Project and Principle Engineers, senior management, vendors, and customers both orally and in writing.
