Reports to: Director of New Product DevelopmentJob Summary:
Design Development Engineers design and develop turf care equipment. You will be responsible for solving a variety of technical problems of moderate to difficult scope and complexity.Responsibilities to Include:
Develop and utilize project timelines for engineering tasks.
Develop and utilize functional specifications for projects.
Develop and utilize DFMEA’s for components and assemblies.
Investigate and review of design patent opportunities and infringements; generate patent disclosures.
Develop design packaging layouts.
Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
Develop and release of engineering component and assembly drawings.
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
Develop and utilize DVPR’s for product validation.
Resolve product issues associated with existing designs and new designs under test and document through the use of Jacobsen’s online problem resolution process.
Perform Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessment on components and assemblies.
Oversee compliance certification to government standards (CE Certification, CARB Compliance, etc…).
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on components and assemblies.
Adhere to Jacobsen’s new product development process (NP&SI) throughout the development cycle.
Interface with other functions within Jacobsen and external suppliers on design-related matters.
Frequently lead projects or small project teams.
Possess and frequently demonstrate the use and application of engineering principles theories, concepts and techniques.
Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are thorough, practical, and consistent with engineering objectives. Frequently they are unique and creative.
Occasionally provide informal mentoring input to others when applicable or necessary.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree required; Mechanical or Electrical.
Master of Science in Engineering Degree preferred; Mechanical or Electrical.Position Requirements:
Six Sigma certification and knowledge of the following tools/methodologies desired: Design of Experiments (DOE), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Statistical-based reliability/validation testing, Program/Project Management, with particular emphasis on project planning in MS Project or like software, New Product Development Processes, Root cause analysis, Voice of the Customer gathering and analysis.
6+ years of experience in product design of heavy equipment, automotive, or like industry.
1 to 3 years of experience with metal fabrication, welding, castings, and plastics is desired.License and Certification Requirements:
