Design/Development Engineer

Summary:Collects information from fields, customers and users; plans and designs auto-parts; negotiates and coordinates; improves design for high quality parts and products; evaluates prototypes and redesigns for improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, evaluates, and improves products design methods.- Analyzes and plans work force utilization and designs layout of products for maximum efficiency.- Confers with other design staff (both inside and outside) concerning product design.- Confers with customers, vendors and suppliers to determine product specifications; evaluates the prototypes according to product specification and quality standards.- Implement equipment operating programs, for example, existing computer programs or by developing specialized programs as needed.- Confers with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production process.- Participates in meetings, seminars, workshops, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field.- Complies with all applicable policies and procedures as required by the Corporation's Quality and Environmental Standards programs.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BSEE or BSME) from four-year college or university
- one to two years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidate must have experience with the following:1. Meeting with customers and understand their specs and needs.
2. Working from the companies core design then you must be able to re-design the solution using Catia or Unigraphics, you will not have a design team that does this you must know how to make changes.
3. Manage the testing of the re-design
4. Continue to work with the customer to make sure you have met their needs and see the new part through launch and beyond
