Date Warehouse Architect - Applications

Scope of Responsibilities

Provides a critical development and support role in system analysis assignments related to data warehouse and CRM applications, including user interviews, business requirement definition, data base design, project/task estimations, and alternative analysis and recommendations associated with the development, testing and implementation of systems.

In conjunction with IS management and business partners, defines and documents both the business and technical requirements for systems being developed.

Prepares project proposals, deliverables and documentation.

Ensures all systems conform to departmental standards. Where systems are deficient, creates plans and implements changes to bring systems into conformance. Provides direction for the development of flexible, integrated, easily-maintained, and operationally-effective and efficient systems.

Designs, develops and coordinates the development of highly specialized and complex data marts and management reports.

Reviews, analyzes, approves and assigns requests for information, ad hoc and production reports.

Maintains a high degree of technical awareness. Maintains current hardware and software technology expertise in areas of responsibility. Keeps current on new development technologies and staff productivity tools including computer-aided software engineering tools. Participates in and leads Information Systems special projects to improve the quality and efficiency of systems development and support.

Provides guidance on issues such as applications architecture, data integrity and security to support the development of quality Information Systems.

Consistently partners with Information Systems infrastructure and application staff on highly technical system components and issues. Effectively communicates and transfers knowledge to team members.

Consults with technical and functional management of projects to ensure all project efforts are coordinated to meet project objectives, budgets and completion dates.

Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the operations of the user's business area assigned to ensure the systems plan complements the operating plan of the user area, and that individual systems are effectively supporting the business.
