Database Architect Sr. Manager

Employment Type: Regular Full/Part Time: Full Time Division: IT Location: FIFTH THIRD CENTER, CINCINNATI, OHGENERAL FUNCTION:Provide leadership and oversight in database architecture for the Bancorp. This position provides guidance for the database architects of the Enterprise Data Management groups in the design of solutions for developing and maintaining quality data architectures across the enterprise. Defines the processes and standards governing the database architecture team and systems regarding design and delivery of the database architecture solutions. Sets forth enterprise strategies regarding maintenance of data quality and auditing data proliferation.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Drive enterprise database architecture strategies across the corporate business applications including the implementation of consistent enterprise data models, data quality improvement strategies, and data audit and correction plans.
2. Establish the database architecture goals in alignment with the goals of the IT Division and Bancorp goals and ensure achievement of these goals.
3. Manage and oversee the enterprise data architecture approach, including physical modeling..
4. Develop standards and best practices for the databases architecture team that facilitate the ability to meet partner and customer needs and expectations.
5. Work with the business and application areas on data stewardship, data quality assurance and data policy recommendations.
6. Develop and maintain a highly competent staff capable of executing on database architecture and roadmap and who plans for and adapts to changes within IT and the Bancorp.
7. Communication of enterprise database architecture initiatives and deliverables to executive management.
8. Drive enterprise database architecture strategies working with the technical architecture group.
9. Keep current with trends and technological innovations in the banking and IT industry, and makes appropriate development recommendations.10. Work with system architects to improve existing OLTP model, transaction cost reduction, and increase the overall data throughput.
11. Establish and maintain database performance for OLTP and DSS applications within the development environment.
12. Participate in design and code reviews, documentation of design, implementation of methodologies to ensure high quality software.
13. Continuously work to increase technical knowledge through CBT and classroom training.
14. Functions as primary vendor liaison.
15. Strong technical leadership skills with extensive hands on experience.
16. Must be a team player, and have excellent communication skillsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises the Database Architecture Team.
2. Responsible for career development, training and salary administration.
3. Ensure efficient use of internal and external resources and contain expenses of the area at reasonable levels and within budgeted amounts.
4. Oversee vendor relationships and negotiate favorable contracts, as needed. Job RequirementsMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.

7+ years of management experience.

10+ years of database architecture experience.
