Database Application and Web Developer

We are the largest, most comprehensive free-standing academic health center in the Philadelphia. Thomas Jefferson University comprises Jefferson Medical College, the College of Graduate Studies, the College of Health Professions and other University service.

We currently have a diversified and challenging full time opportunity available in the University Information Technology Department for an individual to assume responsibility for analyzing systems needs for technology users requiring custom development services. The selected candidate will maintain a high level of knowledge about database (Oracle, MS-Access, and Postgre SQL) and web design, development software tools (Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, JBuilder) and their impact on the University. The Developer will be expected to be creative in integrating the University’s Multi-distributed Environment, developing applications compatible with many platforms, legacy systems and protocols.
REQUIREMENTS
A BS in Computer Science is preferred or comparable experience in applications.
A working knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining applications and web sites for both intranet and Internet use.
Structured Query Language (SQL).
Working knowledge of PC's and filed servers.
Two years of experience with web servers (Apache; IIS), scripting/programming languages (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, Java) and web development tools (Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, JBuilder, etc.) is required.
Knowledge of XML, XSL, SML Schema and DTS as well as building applications to parse and transform markup syntax is required. Understanding of cryptography and security protocols is desired.
Excellent communication skills are required.
