We currently seek talented, energetic, and enthusiastic people for the following positions:
SENIOR DESIGNER
A Senior Designer is responsible for leading and facilitating creative print and online product design from point of concept through design execution on projects they are assigned. A Senior Designer is able to lead and coordinate internal and external creative resources, offering direction and motivation to the creative team throughout the development process. The Senior Designer will participate in a broad range of product development areas, generating conceptual layouts and final designs using a variety of creative tools and programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, and Quark. The Senior Designer will interact extensively with client contracts throughout the creative development process, and will direct the design team, illustrators, art buyers, photo researchers, stylists, and photographers assigned to their projects through completion and to meet the desired results.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Five to 10 years of experience in creative design and layout functions
Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Able to work with variety of network, internet, and electronic communication systems
Proficient skill with Mac OS and MS Office Suite programs
Proficient skill with a variety of creative development tools and workflow process
Experience using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Macromedia, Quark, etc.
Experience with integrated workflow solutions (Adobe InCopy-InDesign)
Diplomatic approach in working with internal and external clients
Creative and adaptive approach to serving client expectation and needs
Candidates must offer strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Ability to interpret and communicate client instructions and needs to others effectively
Extensive knowledge of design principle and color theory
Experience in stylist functions, photography, art rendering, and graphic design
Effective oral and written communication skills
Role requires leadership qualities and strong motivational skills
Extensive knowledge of print and technology product development processes

COMPOSITOR - PRODUCTION ARTIST
A production artist is responsible for constructing file matter that satisfies the desired technical specifications of the product, from approved design templates through final file deliverables. Candidates should offer 3 to 5 years of experience in electronic file preparation for print and online products developed for educational, advertising, and commercial products. Candidates to offer high level capability using layout programs such as Adobe InDesign & Quark. A degree or equivalent in graphic arts is preferred but not required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of electronic page layout and composition experience
Able to prepare technical, production-ready materials from point of approved design
Proficient with Adobe CS (notably InDesign & Acrobat), Quark, MS Office & Filemaker Pro
Able to work with complex network configurations and folder systems
Ability to execute throughout preflight, templating, composition, & prepress
Position require attention to detail and technical production capability
Applicants to offer effective organization and communication skills
Able to understand and execute multiple and diverse development workflows
Able to apply highly structured development functions (style sheets, UMC, XML, etc.)

PROOFREADER / QC LEAD:
The role functions as part of Element's Quality Control group. The QC Lead is responsible for assuring organizational performance for quality and specification standards aligned with client product requirements and expectations. The QC Lead is responsible for monitoring, checking, and assuring all aspect of quality and compliance to product specification. The QC Lead owns and manages product specifications and materials including visual specs, global change and visual mark-up material/records, tracking of product elements via book maps and other similar tracking devices, file naming conventions, graphic libraries, color spec and pallet criteria, hard-copy proof and schedule management of quality control status.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in print and online product development;
Knowledge of product development workflow for commercial and educational publications;
High-level competency in typography, grammar, spelling, and o/a proofreading functions;
Thorough knowledge of proofreading, quality assurance, and quality control processes;
Ability to understand and participate in workflow process developments;
Must be able to internalize product specs and follow complex customer change orders;
Proficient with print product and technical specifications for layout-validation functions;
Candidate must be detail-oriented and offer effective communication and organization skills;
Experience in soft-proofing (Acrobat PDF) and integrated workflow a plus.
