Creative Director, E-Commerce

The Creative Director, E-Commerce will be the overall creative lead for all on-line businesses of a Fortune 1000 size women’s specialty retailer. In this position, the director will lead a creative department consisting of art directors, productions artists and a photography manager. This creative department acts as an internal agency supporting the on-line activities of a multi-brand, multi-channel retail enterprise. The director will be responsible for all day-to-day management activities for the group including creative direction, technical and esthetic standards, budgeting, vendor management, management of freelancers and interns, and management of external photographers and stylists. The director works in partnership with the creative and marketing leads of allied branded business units to translate marketing and branding activities to the on-line environment. The director is a strategic resource involved in the planning of enterprise wide strategic e-business initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities:

Art Direction:
-Day-to-day department management
-Provides creative advice and direction for branded web site design, email design
-Arranges and supervises photo shoots for on-line marketing
-Casts appropriate models, stylists, and locations
-Oversees product (catalog)photography; sets standards regarding file size, styling and image direction.
-Provides design direction and establishes coding standards for all enterprise web sites.
-Supervises and guides creative for affiliate and online media campaigns.
-Sets and enforces standards for external contributors.
Vendor Management:
-Selects external vendors for photography, post production editing and freelance art and graphics
-Negotiates fees and charges
-Negotiates contract terms and conditions
-Enforces and audits vendor contact compliance and overall product quality and timeliness
Content Management:
-Works closely with development group to build appropriate content management capabilities and guides art directors to develop appropriate use of new dynamic content management capabilities
Site Architecture and Usability
-Ensures all web site designs follow strict architecture and usability standards (file size, functionality, etc.)
-Approves creative submissions from in-house designers of other branded operating divisions
-Tests sites with 3rd party usability companies, makes functionality changes as needed
Budgeting:
-Develops forecasts and budgets for Creative Department
-Manages to strict budget guidelines
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
-BA in graphics related program of study desirable, but not required
-Minimum of 5 years in web creative design for e-commerce
-Minimum of 3 years in creative management
-In depth experience with creative design for web, email, on-line affiliate and on-line media is a requirement
