Creative Director/Art Director

CREATIVE DIRECTOR/ART DIRECTOR -- Galles Communications Group, Inc., publishers of Greater Charlotte Biz, Charlotte's premier monthly business-to-business magazine reaching over 100,000 readers in the 16-county greater Charlotte region, as well as other custom magazine publications including economic development guides, small business guides, newcomer’s guides, and niche publications, is looking for a Creative Director-Art Director.Candidates must know every facet of the magazine design process and bring the necessary creativity and design skills to the production of monthly publications from cover to cover including: paginated layout of text, images and advertising materials; creation and design of ad copy; prepress preparation of files; participation in editorial processes including communications with writers and photographers; familiarity with digital photography; and ability to upload files to a Web site.Candidate must have the right balance between technical knowledge, persistence and diligence to perform routine production functions; and exceptional creativity, design and layout skills to construct monthly ad copy and magazine layout, and to develop new publication layouts.Degree in graphic arts or graphic design required. Experience producing print publications of 56+ pages from cover to cover in Quark, checking in FlightCheck, and distilling in Acrobat Professional essential. Knowledge of differences in tif, eps, pdf, jpg, gif, and other ad copy file formats essential. Advanced knowledge of Mac OS X-based QuarkXpress 6.x, Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Acrobat Professional 7.x, and FlightCheck 5.x required.Charlotte-based applicants only.
