Creative Artist II

The Springfield News-Leader is currently seeking a Full-Time Creative Artist - Nights. This position will be responsible for developing work schedules; monitoring productivity and creative quality; assisting with the training of team members; coordinating team workflow and assuring all press-start and sales presentation timelines are met by their team. This position is also responsible for designs and produces display advertisements, spec ads, advertorial sections, select promotional materials and commercial pre-press creative requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
A college degree is required. Print advertising design experience preferred. At least one year Macintosh computer experience, photography, and graphics/layout experience is required. In addition to education and experience, the following skills/abilities are required:

•Macintosh computer and desktop publishing knowledge
•Fundamentals of art design and layout
•Illustration and design abilities
•Expertise with art procedure, materials and technique
•Knowledge of newspaper and composition areas
•Ability to work well under pressue and with continuous deadlines
•Good verbal and written communication skills
•Able to prioritize and organize work, and manage time to acieve results
