Chief Information Security Officer

POSITION: Chief Information Security Officer
The Chief Information Security Officer is the leader of the information security function for Ohio University, which includes responsibility for information security strategy, security architecture development, and security awareness. We are seeking a candidate with a commitment in working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees information security project management. Coordinates and prioritizes activities of the Information Security Office in support of the university’s mission. Oversees the budget of the Information
Security Office. Coordinates and performs reviews of contracts, projects, and proposals. Manages the Information Security Office personnel. Determines personnel necessary to accomplish information security goals. Requests positions and takes the lead in the interviewing and hiring
process. Prioritizes and assigns tasks. Communicates expectations and actively coaches personnel for success. Reviews work performed.
Represents the university in matters of information security, Maintains relationships with law enforcement, counterparts at peer institutions and other security professionals. Provides reports to senior executives regarding information security strategy, security architecture
and the effectiveness of the university’s network and data security efforts. Oversees incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such incidents as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related major. 7-10 years experience in Information Technology, 4-6 years in Information Security and supervisory experience.Current commercial and opensource security tools. Security device (firewall, IDS/IPS) administration tools.

Certification in one or more of the following:
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM)
• Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
• GIAC Security Essentials Certifi cation (GSEC)
Proficiency with common operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux variants and UNIX. Firm knowledge of networking. Creative problem solving ability. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Staff, budget and project management skills.
