Our GPS navigation and communication products are used by pilots, hikers, bikers, boaters, fishing enthusiasts and travelers. We currently have openings for Cartography Technicians.Qualified candidates would be responsible for editing, manipulating and maintaining geographic data using custom and third party software, ensuring the application of cartographic specifications to the data, helping to evaluate and process database updates, assisting in map generation and product compilation, conducting testing and evaluation of Garmin cartography products, and performing established operations for quality assurance.
Ideal candidates for this entry level position will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in cartography, geography, or a related discipline or possess equivalent experience in a related field. Candidates should also possess a working knowledge of cartography and geography with a basic understanding of geo-databases. Strong computer skills, including a familiarity with PC applications and Windows OS, effective organizational and communication skills, a sharp attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a sophisticated technical environment are a must. Familiarity with ArcGIS or other GIS applications, fundamental understanding of GIS principles and methodologies and experience using a GPS device is a preferred.
