Automation Design Engineer

Job Purpose:
The Automation Design Engineer is in charge for the development design – creation and detailing of any necessary automation related support business activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Project engineer of all aspects of automation design, secondary or auxiliary tooling, dies, and fixtures necessary for the entire related program.

2. Works in close relation and communication with various departments within the company including product design, tooling, manufacturing, or any other areas as needed to execute design projects.

3. Responsible for accurate, thorough and timely tool drawings, drawing control for records, file keeping, ECO's, and daily time sheets.

4. Supports automation and manufacturing in the debug process in conjunction with new programs.

5. Responsible for automated systems on a per program basis.

6. Determine project objectives by studying engineering blueprints and drawings, reviewing specifications and requirements with others in engineering department.

7. Evaluate equipment by establishing operating conditions, devising performance tests, setting up apparatus, conducting tests, recording and analyzing results, and modifying and recommending changes.

8. Prepares work instructions to be used in department by identifying and describing the operating characteristics of equipment. Helps train (including off-shifts) and support information flow to the production department.

9. Enhance equipment performance by recommending modifications, making adjustments and recommending improvements to same.
REQUIREMENTS
* 3-5+ years in mechanical, electrical and/or automation design.
* MUST be proficient in SolidWorks, 2-3 years minimum experience.
