Associate Engineering Project Manager

Thales Communications, Inc. currently has an opening for an Associate Engineering Project Manager position that will be responsible for supporting continued development of the Thales JEM radio and its derivatives. Candidate will be expected to support existing EPM on existing development program. This is an entry level technical project management position and will be responsible for small team(s).

Responsibilities:
The engineer will be responsible for leadership in the design and development of real time object oriented embedded software and systems to control various aspects of TCI Software Defined Radios (SDR). Expected to support existing EPM on JEM radio project by leading smaller team subset of existing development work.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
The qualified applicant will be responsible for leadership in the design and development of Hard-Real Time, Object-Oriented, software using UML CAE tools for a Software Defined Radio (SDR).
Experience with CORBA, UML, Real-Time Operating Systems (preferably VxWorks or Integrity) and Real-Time OOAD is preferred.
Real-Time CORBA, SDR Forum membership, C language algorithms for Digital Signal Processing, and/or Communications Systems Signal Processing is also desirable.
Experience with radio/wireless is desirable.
Candidate should have a minimum of a BSEE (MSEE desirable), with at least 1 year leading team of developers in Real-Time OO designs and at least 8 years experience in a design engineering capacity.
In addition, must have hands-on debugging with PC based development tools.
Understanding of real-time software development in a constrained environment (such as PDA development and wireless handset development) is a real plus.
Must fully understand the software development lifecycle, in particular the importance
of good requirements and their full traceability throughout the software design cycle.
Experience in RF/Wireless communications industry working with design engineers on development projects in a project leadership role.
Experience with any of the following devices is desired: Hitachi H8, StrongARM/ARM, Analog Devices DSPs, Atmel AVR microcontrollers, Altera and/or Xilinx FPGAs. Candidate must have demonstrated project leadership skills and should be proficient with Microsoft Project.
Understanding of Earned Value Management is also a big plus.
