Associate Application Systems Analyst / Programmer

Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic and professional Associate Application Systems Analyst Programmer to join our CIS Department

Our home office in located in midtown Kansas City, Missouri. A home office staff of more than 500 associates provides support for our agents and our policy holders.

What we do:
Kansas City Life Insurance Company markets individual life, annuity and group products through general agencies located throughout the United States. Variable life, variable annuities, mutual funds and other investment options are offered through Sunset Financial Services, Kansas City Life's wholly-owned broker/dealer subsidiary.

Primary Responsibilities:

*Facilitate and educate user departments by writing and maintaining programs and providing consultation as needed on new software installed or modifications to existing programs

*Provide departmental and corporate technical assistance and problem resolution

*Contribute to the improvement in departmental and operating efficiencies by following department standards and initiating and promoting new concepts and ideas

*Provide project leadership by planning, allocating, motivating and controlling project work, staff, and other resources on projects with a limited scope

*Contribute to the overall sucess of the CIS Department and company goals and objectives
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:

*College degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred or equivalent technical training

*Five plus years of programming experience

*Proficient knowledge of the required application programming languages and tools appropriate to the assigned platform

*Experience developing distributed applications with ASP.NET and VB.NET utilizing MS SQL Server

*Excellent oral and written communication skills

*Extensive design capabilities and understanding of operation hardware and software

*Strong attention to detail
