Reports to:Job Summary:
An Assoc Naval Architect Engineer conducts requirements analysis, develops and executes research verification and validation experiments, while working in a project team environment.Responsibilities to Include:
Performs naval requirements analysis in order to develop new concepts and applications for high speed marine vessels and systems.
Prepares proposals for research and development projects and supports proposal technical writing and editing in support of Business Development activities.
Prepares calculations including preliminary weight, performance, powering and range estimates.
Develops new hull forms/lines, general arrangements and basic hull structural definition for concept designs.
Prepares technical reports and/or reviews technical data or reports provided by others as directed.
Develops and delivers presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Performs and checks Naval Architectural calculations relating to floodable length, hydrostatics, stability or tonnage to assure conformity with applicable Classification Society, Regulatory Body or Specification requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
BS in Naval Architecture with 1 year of related experience.License and Certification Requirements:
noneDesirable Qualification:Requires proficiency in the use of software for marine design and analysis, including a functional knowledge of computerized design tools such as AutoCad or equal.
Working knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office 2003 suite of tools.
Assists in developing appropriate tests in support of a structured product validation and verification environment.
Working knowledge of key design parameters that effect high performance marine vessels and the rules governing approval by USCG, ABS and other approval authorities.
Excellent communication skills in both an oral presentation, technical writing, and engineering drawing format.
Must be capable of obtaining a SECRET security clearance.
