Architecture Product Manager

AutoCAD also paved the way for our technology leadership in industries such as building, infrastructure, manufacturing, media and entertainment, and wireless data.Role/Purpose:To sustain the continued growth of the BSD business, long range (2+ years) planning for our core businesses (architecture, MEP, Structural) is essential. New trends in the building industry coupled with new trends in technology make it essential that BSD have individuals focused on researching and exploiting these market trends and new technologies. This position is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and proposing new market opportunities that are aligned with, or adjacent to BSD’s building industry strategy. This individual will work closely with BSD product management and senior management to identify opportunities and to agree on areas to further analyze and investigate. This individual will create opportunity proposals and present to BSD’s senior management team for approval. Once approved, this individual will create business plan, requirements documents and product plans for the opportunity.This role will work closely with other BSD Product Managers (PM’s) to determine how best to bring the new capabilities to market which may be through launching a new product or enhancements to our existing product lines. This individual will also work closely with the product design and development teams to ensure a clear understanding of customer requirements and processes, ensuring the delivery of product releases that meet market needs while supporting Autodesk’s strategyPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:Works with BSD Senior Management, Product Management and Marketing team to understand strategy and goals for future initiatives and objectives
Identifies targets and market opportunities and collaborates with Product Management to define product requirements for each identified project.
Defines the division’s unique ability to deliver value to the customer while differentiating itself from competitive offerings.
Conducts market research and gathers industry expert opinions and quantitative and qualitative market data for different market segments.
Works with key customers or prospects to identify unsolved problems in market that are both urgent and pervasive and that people are willing to pay to solve. Proposes innovative solutions that leverage Company’s distinctive competence.
Assesses and investigates different technologies (both inside and outside the company) and works with business development to consider how they might be applied to solve a given market problem. Contributes to ‘make or buy’ recommendations.
Organize customer meetings to research requirements related to and validate business opportunities and solutions
Responsible for creating and getting executive management approval on a Product Plans and documents for each release
Responsible for creating the Operations Requirements Document for each release
Works to ensure that Product Design develops feature specification that delivers on market requirements.
Works with product launch team to ensure a successful launch of new releases to the market
Insures necessary marketing involvement and input on product teams.
Works closely with Product Marketing in its development of messaging and core marketing programs such as Public Relations, launch events, core advertising, and collateral.
Performs an objective analysis of a potential market opportunity to provide a basis for investment, and later measure actual results versus planned. Creates a business plan for both new solutions and new releases for existing solutions.
When appropriate, establishes a pricing model, schedules, guidelines and procedures for assigned solution.
Identifies, creates and maintains relationships, leverages, and acts as main point of contact for key thought leaders in the industry, including industry specialists, research analysts, key editors in the press, and other third parties.
Serves as main internal point of contact for worldwide solution strategy. Builds strong internal partnerships with Product Management, Product Marketing and Marketing Programs.
Creates solutions that solve market problems using innovation, distinctive competence and creativity.
Proposes and recommends the most effective way to deliver a solution to an identified market problem (buy, build and partner). May also work with business development in order to identify market opportunities within a segment.Document Responsibility:
Responsible for working with other product managers and contributing to product MRDs, opportunity proposals, business cases (Go/No Go), product roadmaps, PRDs, and to the final division marketing plan.Key interfaces:
Key Customers, Target Customers, Industry Contacts, BSD Senior Mgmt, Product Marketing, Product Design, Product Development, Sales, Channel Partners, and Business Development.Requirements:Intense customer focus

Strong product champion.Desired Knowledge/Skills:4-year degree from an accredited institution in Business, Engineering; or equivalent experience. MBA is preferred.
Broad range of marketing experience with emphasis on product planning, product management, business development and product introductions, but also including experience in quantitative and qualitative market research, promotions, PR, and advertising.
Understanding of the Arch, MEP, or Structural design customer and the various channels required to reach the customer.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to be highly successful in a matrix management organization.
Strong technical understanding of architecture, MEP, Structural design software
Strong management and team building background.
Strong evangelical and presentation skills desired.Work Experience:7+ years product management software experience in a high technology business desired
Specific experience in design or CAD desktop software businesses desired
3+ years working with architecture, MEP, Structural design software Revit-based products, AutoCAD-based (Architectural Desktop, or Autodesk Building Systems) preferable
