Application Architect
Business Unit: GE CorporateFunction: Information TechnologyResponsibilities: * Work with project managers and customers to provide technical expertise and solutions.
Lead in discussions with development and business teams regarding implementation and design of business prototypes
Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Actively participate in Development Council meetings and code reviews
Assist in the creation of development project plans, schedules, and estimates.
Facilitate the creation of a detailed architecture of various applications
Provide leadership/mentoring for developers in regard to design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Ensure adherence to development, testing and data architecture standards and procedures.
Ensure successful and timely completion of application development efforts both on and off-shore.
Work with system and network engineers to investigate and solve issues
Evaluate development and overall technology trends and their applicability to enhance our present and future environment.
Assist in designing automation to satisfy business requirements in a manner consistent with defined standards and overall data architecture.
Perform impact and level of effort analysis
Create timely project status reports to IT and business management
Conduct testing of completed work prior to user acceptance testing phase.
Identify major areas of improvement and drive results
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * Minimum 5 year data processing experience including at least 3 years in a data warehousing environment and
Minimum 3 years experience with systems analysis, design and development and
Minimum 3 years experience as a developer in more than one of the following: J2EE, ASP, JSP, JDBC, Java Script, C++ and
Minimum 3 years experience in Oracle and SQL and
Minimum 2 years experience with systems architecture design standards and patterns: MVC, MDA, etc., as well as object oriented programming, pattern driven development standards, and UML. and
Experience working with and leading teams of Global Development Contractors (GDCs)
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with at least 2 years experience in Application development and architecture or High School Degree with at least 7 years experience in Application development and architectureDesired: * Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, organizational and leadership skills in both business and technical areas.
Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment along with the ability to lead multiple, simultaneous initiatives effectively
Financial Services Industry Experience
Visual Basic experience
Fast learner who quickly picks up new systems and processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership, team-building, vendor and customer relationship skills
IMLP graduate
