Application Analyst, Non-Proprietary Products

This position is primarily responsible for leading, analyzing, designing, documenting program or program changes to meet technical specifications for new systems or modifications to existing systems having a broad perspective on multiple application/functional areas. The position leads design and supports the integrity and integration of application systems and data, working in partnership with the user/client community in meeting their business systems needs.Roles and Responsibilities Lead, specify, design, code, test and document computer programs using assignment-related computer programming languages, utilities, operating systems, databases and other tools. Specifically:
JAVA / J2EE development using IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer
Data acquisition (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and products, ideally Informatica tools
WebSphere Applications Server environment implementation with JETS and STRUTS
COBOL on IBM MVS environment
DB2 database experience
Business-to-business integration
Conduct analysis activities, design application systems and integrate different computer systems
Demonstrate full command of one or more platforms and disciplines, including, but not limited to, large processor, personal computer, database, network and client server
Apply knowledge of corporate processes, services and products as it relates to assignments
Apply knowledge of corporate computer applications and systems architecture as it relates to assignments
Responsible for producing and delivering high quality, fully tested computer products and services on schedule, within prescribed resource limits, and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards
Lead medium to large complex projects
Organize, plan, and coordinate the resources needed on projects by providing analysis, design, programming, and installation services
Provide mentoring to junior staff
Develops and carries out a Self-Development Plan
Stay abreast of trends and new products and services in the Information Technology industry, and their application in our environmentPosition Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or Business; or equivalent work experience
Ideal candidate has experience with business-to-business integration, particularly with networking insurance and investment products through a third-party platform, and/or experience with a high-volume external broker/dealer product platform
7 + years of work experience in Information Systems
3 + years object-oriented development experience
3 + years JAVA language experience
5+ years COBOL language experience in a mainframe environment
3+ years DB2 database experience
Ideal candidate has demonstrated experience using Informatica tools
Ability to troubleshoot client/server application problems across multiple platforms
Demonstrated strong leadership skills
Expert in multiple programming languages, development environments, debugging tools, testing tools, programming aids, system design tools, DBMS
Strong experience with system development life cycle and project management principles
Strong problem solving skills
Strong program analysis, design and coding skills
Must be able to work at both a conceptual and detail level
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
Strong interpersonal skills
Must have broad experience in business or interacting with business organizations
Must have ability to influence and persuade others over whom there is not direct authority
