Advertising Art Designer

Interprets graphically the selling message for retail advertising by directing the development of rough and comprehensive layouts to be
followed by photography studios to prepare finished artwork that will promote the merchandise and facilitate maximum sales.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Designs, in computer, initial project layout/template. Converts initial thumbnails and ideas into effective retail advertising art or
photography, to promote immediate sales and achieve the Company's fashion/brand image goals.
2. Assists Art Director in marking up layouts and mechanical art to maintain the timely flow of pages in the advertising production process.
Assures accuracy and provides personal accountability of the final art for assigned projects.
3. Translates advertising copy into good visual concepts designed to stimulate customer interest and sales of Company merchandise and
present desired Company image.
4. Designs and directs the development of visual concepts for special requests, ROP, direct mail as assigned. Art directs small projects
as assigned within direct mail.
5. Implements specific typographic style/format to ensure completion of comprehensive layouts by established due dates.
6. Directs and assists at photography sessions for print concerning lighting, attitude, styling, and selections and corrections of color
chromes, and assures creative lead responsibilities when assigned.
7. Compiles a resource file of outside retail advertising to keep abreast of current design and merchandise trends. Evaluates
effectiveness of competition's presentation to improve Company presentation.KEY RELATIONSHIPS:1. Works with Creative Advertising Art Manager to ensure seasonal direction, established color palettes and consistency in art direction
and photography.
2. Coordinates with the Advertising Art Director, Copy Chief and Advertising Copywriters, other Advertising Art Directors and Advertising
Art Designers to secure optimum and consistent visual results for print advertising (including Production Specialists and Print
Specialists).
3. Receives and processes information from Project Managers, Marketing Directors and Marketing Specialists regarding merchandise
presentation and emphasis.REQUIREMENTS:Education: College or art school degree or equivalent experience.Experience: 2 or more years' catalog or agency experience.Core Competencies: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production; knowledge of media production,
communication and dissemination techniques and methods. Must be proficient in Quark, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustration and other MAC based applications and design programs. Excellent attention to detail.
