ASSISTANT WEB EDITOR
The Tyler Morning Telegraph, the area's leading online news and information provider, is seeking a motivated and energetic assistant web editor to join its growing online news staff.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in reporting and online media as well as familiarity with photography, video, and audio. The assistant web editor is responsible for updating the site, moderating user comments, and assisting the web editor with the creation of exclusive online content. The candidate should have outstanding writing and editing skills and exceptional news judgment. This position requires strong leadership, teamwork, organizational and management skills and a commitment to quality.This position will report directly to the Web Editor.The person should have interest in integrating emerging technologies into the news web site and be comfortable working in fast paced, deadline driven environment. The online editor is also expected to identify content that merits special packaging, develop multimedia features, and assist in coverage of breaking news and special events.This position requires someone who can work with the newspaper's reporters, editors and online staff to produce daily online content. This individual will be responsible for integrating compelling and creative text and headlines, still images, audio, video, and web links into stories to create an appealing and thoughtful online package.A minimum of three years of daily newspaper experience is preferred. Experience with HTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop, and Macromedia Flash are all major pluses, but any candidate who is excited about the possibilities of online news is encouraged to apply and express his/her vision. This is an afternoon / evening position, with occasional night and weekend assignments for breaking news and special circumstances.

REQUIREMENTS
