JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior QA Developer/Engineer with proven experience in networking appliance equipment.
This person would be a key individual responsible for testing AE products and offerings. In their role, this person would be developing and executing tests of our products and would be involved in the full product development cycle, starting with review of the product requirements definitions, test planning, test execution, troubleshooting and reporting. You will take a leadership role in requirements analysis, technical evaluation, test design, execution and the reporting of status and results while working with and providing support to other QA Engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIESParticipating in all aspects of product testing, including test plan development, execution and delivery of well-tested solutions with short time to market.
Work closely with product management and software engineers to design and develop CPE STB devices.
Work with product management to identify test requirements and plan test projects.
Write test procedures based on functional specifications and perform the tests to ensure that the product functions as specified.
Analyze and report software defects, work with developers to reproduce and troubleshoot the problem.
Verify problem resolutions and maintain test procedures.
Test plan development for new product features.
Analyze problems and produce product defect reports.
Report to upper management work progress. REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTSA very strong networking background, understanding technologies such as 802.3, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11, DSL and ATM to name a few.
Intimate knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and its implementation in a service provider environment.
Knowledge of routing and switching protocols and devices.
Good knowledge of VoIP and multimedia protocols such as SIP and RTP.
Extended experience with protocol analyzers such as Sniffer or ethereal and using the tool as a means for trouble shooting and root cause analysis is a MUST.
Strong communication skills in engaging with the product management and the development teams to review, discuss and propose test plans, design plans and trouble shooting problems.
Good knowledge of using security tools such as snort, nmap, nesus, etc.
Ability to gain the respect of the development teams on the basis of technical knowledge, hands-on style, and decision making ability on technical issues; as well as the ability to influence and partner with the product management from a business perspective.

REQUIREMENTS (cont.) BS Degree in Computer Science, EE or equivalent.
8+ years experience in appliance or networking equipment QA or software development.
Strong technical competency in the following areas considered highly desirable: IP based networks, hardware systems, Windows NT Network proficient (Domain and Active Directory) and Security Services.
Must have a proven track record serving in a Quality Assurance team.
Must have demonstrated ability to integrate the whole picture including Functionality/Regression Testing, Stress/Load Testing, & Process Management.
Must have excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills.
Proficient in creating test plans, test matrices and test cases.
Knowledge of testing tools and programming skills (scripting, C/C++, java).
Experience with network appliances (routers, switches, STB, etc).
Strong software troubleshooting & software problem analysis skills.
