Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager
STORE MANAGER
Responsible for all phases of the stores' operations. Manages and controls the operations of the store to ensure that company standards and expectations are consistently met. Executes business plan and associated programs that will deliver the desired sales and profit results, while maintaining good quality customer service. Recruits, trains and develops employees. Manages the operations of the stockroom to ensure new merchandise gets to the sales floor in a timely manner, goods are received properly and maintains tight control of all merchandise in stock areas.
ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
Responsible for management of the departments assigned to them and for the supervision of employees in those departments. Assists in managing and controlling the operations of the store to ensure that company standards and expectations are consistently met. Supervise areas assigned by the Store Manager and follow the Ross philosophy and policies in regard to customers, employees and merchandising. Responsible for learning all phases of store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the entire store operation and will execute the business plan and associated programs that will deliver the desired sales and profit results, while maintaining good quality customer service.
REQUIREMENTS
STORE MANAGER:
Must have three years or more of softline management.
Organizational Development
Recruit, hire, train and develop Assistant Managers and non-exempt employees. Through selection, training and motivation, strive to reduce store turnover. Ensure compliance of Ross personnel policies and procedures. Manage Employee Relations issues, consulting with District Managers as needed. Maintain adherence to company safety policies and ensure the safety of employees and customers. Facilitate monthly safety meetings. Ensure compliance of all state, local and federal regulations.
Customer Service
Executing customer service programs (C.A.R.E., At Your Service) and Merchandise Presentation programs. Supervise and coach retail associates in providing efficient and friendly service at the register, Customer Service desk, fitting rooms, etc. Monitor the maintenance of sizing to corporate goal. Shortage Implement inventory shortage programs in store and monitor programs to ensure compliance. Train employees on Loss Prevention awareness and store shortage goals. Work to reduce company marked-out-of-stock merchandise.
Store Appearance
Implement recovery standards, which result in a clean, neat, easy to shop environment. Maintain a high standard of house keeping with help of contracted maintenance personnel and Ross employees.
Expense Control
Monitor and manage actual expenditures to be within budget. Control payroll hours to plan, as the primary controllable expense, as well as adjusting to current business trends.
Merchandise Processing and In-store Marketing
Ensure merchandise is presented and organized utilizing Ross Merchandising Philosophy and Guidelines. Urgent approach to processing merchandise to the selling floor within company timeframe. Ensure markdowns are processed according to policy on an accurate and timely basis. General Operating Requirements Analyze monthly store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance. Address any variance to company standards with appropriate action plan. Ensure proper scheduling of employees to meet business objectives.
Emergency Procedures
Ensure store management and employees understand and can execute emergency operating procedures. Special Assignments Accept special assignments as directed by management
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Three or more years of management experience in a retail environment. Demonstrate the ability to lead, manage, motivate and communicate positively to store personnel at all levels. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals, develop a schedule to complete tasks and execute to achieve results. Must exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Supervision of Assistant Store Manager and all non-exempt employees

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
