Sr. Customs Compliance Specialist

This position is responsible for providing technical, analytical and procedural leadership regarding Bed Bath & Beyondâ??s customs compliance activities. They will handle day to day operational issues, and lead all customs/import-related projects as it relates to the necessary elements of Customs Compliance when Importing or Exporting goods to our stores/customers.â?˘ Complete Customs Duty Payment Project to identify, report and resolve any duty payment issues between 2002 â?? 2005
â?˘ Lead internal/external Focused Assessment regarding current Customs Compliance status
â?˘ Create/publish a Customs Compliance Guide
â?˘ Help prepare organization for CT-PAT certification and application process
â?˘ Investigate possibilities for duty reduction to include Foreign Trade Zone (FTZâ??s, material content analysis, country of origin sourcing, etc.)
â?˘ Maintain customs compliance of import operations by staying abreast of applicable government regulations and rulings to ensure no fines and/or penalties are leviedâ?˘ Define and review current systems (i.e. JDA, EFocus, etc.) to ensure customs compliance related to accurate duty calculations; at entry, receipt and vendor payment
â?˘ Validate/approve duty statements (ACH)
â?˘ Work with vendors to ensure proper documentation is being furnished to US Customs so timely entries can occur on every shipment imported into the US. Provide feedback to Vendor Compliance on issues that are recurring and strategic to the success of the program.
REQUIREMENTS
â?˘ Requires extensive knowledge of US Customs laws and regulations to assure extensive and accurate import/export record keeping impacting all duty paymentsâ?˘ 5+ years import and/or brokerage-related experience in a fast paced international transportation environment - essentialâ?˘ Must be a licensed Customs Brokerâ?˘ BS/BA Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, International Trade - desiredâ?˘ Effective interpersonal communication skills required (oral and written) with ability to relate with multiple internal stakeholders (i.e. Buying Office, Finance, Product Development, etc.)â?˘ Solid PC skills required, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, Word, Access, etc.)â?˘ Must be detail oriented
