Speech Therapist

Speech Therapist The Speech Therapist is the individual responsible for developing and implementing individualized patient treatment plans in accordance with established principles and practices of speech therapy.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

1.Through appropriate screening, evaluations and assessment, accurately identifies communication disorders.

2.In coordination with other team members as appropriate, develops a realist speech rehabilitation program using appropriate therapeutic modalities.

3.Orients patients to their individual programs to assure they understand the treatment and goals of the program and the personal responsibility they must take to achieve success. Promotes patient participation on an on-going basis in discussion of status, treatment plans and goals

4.Maintains goal-director and purposeful treatment and patient involvement at every appointment. Listen and responds appropriately to the needs and concerns of patients.

5.Assures discharge decision and arrangements for follow-up or additional support service are properly made.
6.Maintain accurate records on all patients. Writes daily progress notes and weekly progress letters.

7.Submits charges for service and supplies consistent with department standards.

8.Assures compliance wit Federal/Medical guidelines and company compliance policies.

9.Participates in clinic marketing events as needed.

Skills/Abilities:
oMaster of Speech Therapy application
oProfessional decision making in determining a best course of action in treatment planning
oHighly developed communication and personal interaction skills

Education/Certification: Masters Degree in Speech Pathology required. Must hold ASHA Certificate of Clinic Competence and current license in Speech Pathology and/or Audiology.

Experience/Knowledge Required: Knowledge of accepted Physical Therapy applications. One year of previous Speech Therapy experience is required.

Performance Measurements

1.Demonstrated mastery of physical therapy applications relevant to the Physical Therapy licensure.
2.Consistent delivery of appropriate goal-directed, patient-involved therapy.
3.Quality interaction and communication with patient, physicians, and clinical team members.
4.Performance of duties listed and duties that may add to the non-inclusive list in this Position Description.
