RESPONSIBILITIES: SUMMARY


This position requires hands-on Oracle Database Administration skills in a SAP R/3 and BW environment. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in day to day production support, monitoring, advanced troubleshooting skills, proactive system analysis, backup and standard Oracle administration activities. Successful candidates will have experience in multiple Oracle release installations and upgrade projects in complex SAP landscape environments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for all aspects of database optimization.

Provide the appropriate tools, procedures and facilities for creating and maintaining the entity data enterprise model

Create, develop, and review the physical model created from the logical model, ensuring that the detailed physical design of data structures and databases complies with standards and conventions

Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for all aspects of data modeling, database design and maintenance

Produce:

entity relationship diagrams

data flow diagrams

database normalization schemas

logical to physical database mapping

data table parameters

Manage the implementation and use of the enterprise data dictionary

Work closely with applications development teams to ensure proper data modeling and design paradigms are applied in the creation and ongoing maintenance of respective databases, to ensure efficient data access in application programs, and to review test benchmarks

Review overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance, and space requirement considerations

Assist in the definition and resolution of database problems

Participate in the evaluation and recommendations of DBA tools and new RDBMS technologies

Serve as business liaison to database vendors

On-call responsibilities may include 24-hour coverageKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Extensive experience database optimization

Extensive experience in logical and physical database design

Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to write proposals and technical documents

Ability to make presentations to diverse type of audiences

Thorough understanding of the relational database model

Significant experience in the design of data extract, data migration, and data queuing facilities

Establishes and maintains a high level of user trust and confidence in the group’s knowledge of and concern for users’ business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Seven to Ten years experience with RDBMS (Oracle)

Five to Seven years experience with optimization of RDBMS (Oracle) in a SAP environment.

Experience in data extract, data migration and data queuing facilities

Knowledge in database normalization schemas and logical to physical database mapping required

Extensive knowledge in UNIX operating system (AIX preferred)

Four-year degree in Computer-related field
