Recreation and Leisure Services Specialist (Part-time)

Serve as a coach/instructor and assist adults with developmental disabilities in achieving outcomes that match their interests and abilities which include coaching and instructing basic skills within the Recreation and Leisure Services/Quest program. Perform routine daily functions such as preparing for class, taking attendance and monitoring the participants. Ensure safe working practices including inspection and maintenance of safe equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to drive 15 passenger vans to and from program activities. Position also requires completion and submission various reports, evaluations and summaries of participants in a timely manner. Ability to endure standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling equipment. Visual acuity to perceive participant reactions in activities. Auditory acuity to perceive participant reactions in activities. Motor dexterity for working with participants and maintain physical mobility and body strength in upper and lower extremities. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, physical education, leisure services, therapeutic recreation, exercise science or experience in the field of developmental disabilities preferred. Ability to physically train and assist persons in sports and fitness activities. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license, violation free for at least one year. Direct Service Person (DSP) certification within 120 days of employment required.
