Shft: DaysJob Description:Must be knowledgeable and adhere to all federal guidelines regarding patient registration and reimbursement. Understands inpatient/outpatient reimbursement and requirements of guidelines per Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and commercial payers. Serves as a resource for others. Verifies the following patient demographic information with patient: Name, Address, Telephone Number, Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Date of Service, Employment Status, Employer Name, Employer Telephone Number, Emergency Contact Name, Emergency Contact Telephone Number, Emergency Contact Relationship, Referring Physician, Attending Physician, Latex Sensitivity, SARS information, and Insurance Subscriber Information including Subscriber Name, Group Number, Insurance Company Name, Benefits Verification Telephone Number, Insurance Company Address, and Subscriber Identification. Verifies Insurance Eligibility and Benefits. Verifies co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance. Obtains authorizations and notates number of approved days on in-patient stays. Follows up on missing authorizations. If authorization is not obtained within 24 hours prior to service, contacts patient to advise them of their financial responsibility. Refers patient to financial counselor if appropriate.Education Preferred: Minimum Associates degree, preferred Bachelors degree, if degree outside medical field completion of Medical terminology course. Combination of equivalent experience and/or education is acceptable. Equivalent experience in customer service related or medical field will be considered.Experience Required: Minimum of two years experience within financial/healthcare industry.Knowledge/skills/abilities:excellent communication skills with all types of individuals
excellent organizational and written skills, flexibility and ability to switch tasks frequently
ability to type minimum 45 wpm with above average accuracyability to operate CRT, IBM compatible PC, Windows, copier, fax, phone, and headset
job requires continuous reading skills and the ability to handle a heavy volume of work
