OR Service Line Specialist

Job Summary: The OR Serivce Line Specialist, utilizes discretion and independent judgment in providing expertise in management of perioperative specialty service line following Association of Operativing Room Nurses (AORN) standards at all surgical locations; establishes service line competencies and performance standards; develops and implements performance improvement processes specific to service line and monitors financial performance and clinical practice outcomes; collaborates with perioperative business manager to control and analyze costs of service lines and identify ways to standardize and reduce expenses while maintaining quality service; establishes good working relationships with service line surgeons to develop, improve, and market service lines; collaborates with schedulers to evaluate and establish standard procedure times, schedule accuracy, equipment/supply usage, and human resources needed to maximize efficiency and cost containment; supervises and manages designated service line personnel to ensure specialty equipment, supplies, and instrumentation is maintained in good repair and available at time needed; provides age-specific patient care during times of short staffing and during lunch breaks; serves as a role model and provides positive influence to facilitate change; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports the I CARE initiative, excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population; performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Associate degree in nursing required; Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare related field required or in progress. Current and unrestricted Ca. RN license, BLS certification required. 2 years clinical experience in area of service line specialty required; prior management or supervisory experience preferred. Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position; trouble shoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities; communicate in English in a professional manner; relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
