Manager - Graphics Business
Perform a wide range of duties in fast paced, retail graphic store located in Gladstone, Missouri, a subdivision of Kansas City North. This is NOT a design position. Graphic experience helpful but not required. Store Manager will be responsible for building sales and profitability of the business. The priority of this position is to ensure procedures already in place are met by the staff, evaluate current methods and initiate new standards for efficiency and profitability. We are looking for a manger who enjoys working with people in a relaxed, small business environment. Proven management experience in general business operations is more important than formal education or degree.Must be able to multi-task, think quickly, be a problem solver, communicate and work with seasoned staff. Assure deadlines are met with efficiency to achieve customer satisfaction and quality graphic output. Must be able to meet challenges and problems with a calm, positive attitude in a professional manner.
Requires high degree of organization, accuracy, attention to detail, ability to follow-through, and strong initiative. You will oversee the sales and production staff of 3 persons. This is a hands-on position requiring close interaction with staff, clients and owners. We are looking for a manager who is proactive and professional. The Store Manager will have the assistance of two active owners to set and achieve goals and will report to them.
You will assist our customer service rep (CSR) with in-person, email and telephone requests for quotes or sales orders using POS software. In the absence of the CSR, the store manager will assume his/her role. The store manager will resolve internal or external sales or production problems to maintain customer satisfaction while protecting the business. When required, handle large quote requests using cost plus pricing rather than POS pricing. Insure CSR is following store procedures, accurately pricing clients and following up on estimates and A/R’s. Maintain up to date client database.
Conduct daily work-start meetings with CSR and production staff. Motivate and coach employees and perform employee evaluation. Resolve personnel disputes privately with sensitivity and in a timely fashion. Train new employees or current employees on new procedures. Manage employees through cooperation and leadership understanding individual personalities. Monitor employee hours and make schedule adjustments for seasonal business trends.Oversee all areas of production including purchasing, keeping employees on task, scheduling/prioritizing jobs, quality output, and equipment maintenance. Manage production inventory costs with monthly inventory counts. Review all production related invoices for pricing variances and make adjustments to inventory spreadsheets. Seek out alternative vendors for best pricing. As required, assist production staff with overflow work including tasks such as using power tools to prepare substrates, loading media in 60" printer, use of laminator and possibly perform simple on and off site installations.Store financial responsibilities include overseeing the CSR accurately balances daily sales for deposit. Ensure the CSR is maintaining A/R’s at 35 days or less. Analyze sales reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for accuracy, assess sales trends, and report finding to owners. Analyze cost of goods and POS pricing to insure profit is kept at standards as set by the owners. Maintain adequate on-hand inventory levels and an acceptable cost of goods. Utilize Excel spreadsheets to track sales accuracy and POS system business reports to evaluate business performance.Training is provided in-store with possibility of one week training at American FASTSIGNS corporate offices in Dallas. FASTSIGNS KC North is locally and independently owned with excellent support from our franchise, American FASTSIGNS, Inc. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed major holidays. Store Manager minimum hours will be 8 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or as needed to accomplish requirements of the job.We have been in business 15 years and built a client base of over 6000 customers. REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years management experience in business operations with supervision experience of at least 3 employees. Stable job history required. Above average analytical and math skills essential. Proficiency in Excel and Word. Excellent written and verbal skills required. Must have PC experience sufficient to use and understand variety of software programs. Be able to troubleshoot simple PC problems. Basic accounting skills will be required in this position. Must be able to speak clear English and use proper grammar. Prefer some college but will consider applicants without a 2 year degree.Physical Requirement: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, use power tools and ladders (when required in assisting production).
