DESCRIPTION

Aggregate Industries, one of the largest producers of crushed stone, ready mix concrete and asphalt in the United States & United Kingdom has an immediate opportunity for a Labor Relations Specialist in our Northeast Region. The regional office is located in Saugus, MA and supports over 1,200 employees located in 40 sites in Massachusetts, New Hampshire & Connecticut.

Job Summary

The Labor Relations Specialist will be a business partner to Aggregate Industries management for the Northeast Region. Reporting to the HR Manager – Northeast Region, the Specialist will be involved in all Human Resource initiatives with a primary focus on labor relations and various other HR issues.

Job Responsibilities

•Provide labor relations/consultation support by recommending economic and negotiation strategies to the HR Manager – Northeast Region
•Assist in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements.
•Lead in the administration of those collective bargaining agreements, including grievance processing, arbitration, and the fostering of positive labor-management relations with the unions.
•Provide advice and counsel to management on matters of Company Policy, collective bargaining obligations, and employment law
•Consult with outside legal counsel as required
•Responds to and properly handles employee relations matters consistent with company policy guidelines.
•Advises, coaches and develops managers to resolve employee relations issues in union and non-union settings.
•Assist with various Human Resources projects as assigned.
•Formulates and recommends program goals/objectives in all areas of Labor Relations.
•Acts as lead in developing and administering procedures and the personnel policies and procedures as they relate to Labor Relations.
•Personally assures that the Company is in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Act.
•Prepares and presents required and special reports.
•Investigates problems such as working conditions, disciplinary actions and employee and applicant appeals and grievances.
•Assist the National HR Team on Labor Relations and other HR topics as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
•5 to 7 years progressive HR experience including a primary focus on labor relations.
•Bachelor’s degree required in human resources or related field preferred.
•Must possess strong communication (oral and written) and customer service skills.
•Must be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
•Ability to work in a confidential environment essential.
•Excellent organization skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimum direction.
•Strong time management skills.
•Strong Microsoft Office and database skills.
•Detailed understanding of human resource laws and regulations.
•Strong analytical skills
