Inpatient Coder (Revenue Cycle) - Danville

JOB SUMMARY:
Assesses inpatient needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet those needs. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specified age range of their assigned nursing unit.

Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.

Reports directly to the Operations Manager. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates good organizational skills and effective communication skills.

Demonstrates excellent clinical nursing skills, knowledge, judgment and leadership in an independent environment.

Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as in team environment.

Must be confident, personable, self-motivated and function with tact and poise in stressful situations. Must be capable of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions and possessing innovation under adverse conditions.

Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality.

Demonstrates ability to interact professionally on all levels within and outside the organization.

Demonstrates basic computer skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an approved school of nursing required. Requires RN currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of Pennsylvania.

BLS certification preferred.

Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual unit.

AICU The Adult Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit that provides multi-disciplinary care to critically ill patients over the age of 18. The AICU nurses have extensive knowledge and in-depth experience with a wide variety of specialties, including trauma, neurology, pulmonary, and many others. Most of our patient population requires mechanical ventilation and/or invasive hemodynamic monitoring and work closely with the physicians, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, and other support services.
