GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.Under general supervision of the Manager of Radiology Image Services, the incumbent is responsible for the delivery of complete customer service and maximum productivity in processing of radiology images for interpretation and review. Understands and utilizes a network of computerized systems for processing information and for archiving and retrieving image studies. Comprehends a multitude of work, related to the use of radiology images throughout a broad customer base internally and externally to the hospital. Rotates work assignments, with varying degrees of complexity, in a multi-site operation.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.{1} Follow multi-step processing of all films and soft-copy images and related documentation for Radiologist interpretation and referring physicians review of images, as well as requests by patients, legal offices, insurance agents, etc.{2} Coordinates film and images preparation in conjunction with clinic and physician offices, patient appointments{3} Responsible to requests via telephone, facsimile, computer e-mail and through written correspondence.{4} Receives customers and responds to requests on-demand.{5} Understands and Uses Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) computer equipment which is introduced to the image services operations.{6} Assists physicians with the use of equipment for locating specific images and for image viewing.{7} Processes requests through the utilization of dual systems for film and soft-copy images.{8} Incumbent assists with integrating the electronic capabilities of the PACS installation into daily workflow.{9} Manages customer service issues and resolves related problems. Communicates and interprets departmental and hospital policies and procedures for customers with clarity and completeness. Facilitates resolution of misunderstandings related to ownership of film images.{10} Utilizes computer information system in department, with multiple interfaces to various computer systems hospital wide, to obtain information which may be directly or indirectly pertinent to completing a customer requests for information. Uses necessary for patient care related requests. Prepares and maintains files and folders in appropriate condition. Ascertains inventory needs for record storage supplies and processes requests in a timely manner.{11} Responsible for transmitting images from the Impax DS3000 workstation to a web-based distribution (Exhibit) for displaying of images to be reviewed.{12} Verify images were pushed to Exhibit, and follow-up on images that go into error status.{13} Responsible for burning images to Compact Disks (CD) for patient, physicians, and clinic use.{14} Participates in image services staff meetings as required or assigned.{15} Performs other functions as required and/or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.){1} Associate Degree in a related filed preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.{2} Two years office experience in a related discipline. Prior work utilizing computers and miscellaneous office equipment.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.){1} Ability to work independently under pressure with a diverse team of employees and customers.{2} Ability to respond to customer requests over long periods on the telephone while monitoring information through the computer system.{3} Ability to identify an n emergent situation, formulate solutions and execute such with minimum direction from the supervisor.{4} Physical strength to do heavy lifting (minimum of 25 lbs.) and moving folders while handling film folders.5} Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent customer relation's skills and patient needs orientation.{6} Ability to become familiar with and to understand all radiology processing areas.WORKING CONDITIONS: Describe the conditions in which the work is performed.{1} Exposure to noisy environment of computer printers and eye strain from CRT.{2} Standing and walking 90% of the time.{3} Lifting and transferring film files.{4} Experience frequent work interruptions.
