Help Desk Support Technician
Purpose: Summary Maintain the functionality of company workstations and laptops for end users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned..
Install hardware of personal computers and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
Load specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
Enter commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
Respond to user inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Instruct users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
Recommend or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
Replace defective or inadequate software packages.
Refer major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.

Education and/or Experience
Technical school certificate and high school diploma; six months to one year related experience at a help desk; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be fluent in MicroSoft Office applications and MS desktop operating systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A+ computer certification preferred.
