HR Generalist
Serve on a highly active, fast-paced, and quality-oriented HR Department Service Team (DST) as an HR generalist and business partner, providing human resources operational, advisory, and consulting support to department management, supervisors, and staff in the Global Engagement and National Security Technology Departments; work closely in a teaming capacity with other members of the DST in coordinating support to customers.
Develop thorough knowledge and understanding of customer departments' business areas and types of work, their unique needs, culture, skills, types of staff, and staff development and performance issues. Develop close working relationships with supervisors, managers, department staff, and others in key roles that coordinate with, or are supported by the DST. Develop keen understanding of customer-specific HR-related needs, and develop necessary resources and solutions to meet those needs. Serve as a business partner to the customer. Provide a full range of human resources generalist assistance, from day-to-day HR operational support to management advisement and consulting on strategic HR-related issues. Functional areas may include staffing and workforce planning, performance management and review, salary administration, rewards and recognition, training and development, team facilitation, strategic planning and organizational development, employee relations, and transition planning and assistance. Provide information and interpretation regarding HR systems, policies, and practices, and assist in developing customizations to those systems and practices for customers. Identify organization needs, conduct assessments, and recommend strategies to achieve results and or resolve issues. Provide management consulting on strategic issues. Participate in identification, design, development, implementation and maintenance of HR-specific projects and programs that add strategic value and contribution to customer departments
Proactively team with fellow DST members to share information on customer department activities and needs, and to develop and coordinate appropriate responses to those needs. Utilize knowledge of HR data sources and strong computer skills to gather, prepare, and analyze data and information for various reports and summaries. Prepare and deliver effective communications that synthesize information and convey ideas in written and orally presented formats to audiences at all levels. Participate on teams or projects with customers and within the HDS Group and HR and Services Department, as needed. Occasionally provide backup support to other DST?s, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Required: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent; at least 5 years demonstrated professional-level experience and proficiency as a human resources generalist and/or in a set of specialist roles that include recruiting and staffing, performance and salary administration, employee relations, training and development, and management advising in a customer focused environment; demonstrated track record of providing efficient, hands on consultative HR service to customers; strong task management and multi-tasking skills; strong results orientation, attention to detail skills, and focus on quality; experience in conducting customer needs assessments and in creating customer needs-based programs; strong demonstrated proficiency with computers and automation tools, especially Microsoft Excel, and extensive experience with HR data compilation, analysis, and presentation; demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness on working on teams and in close coordination with other team members in carrying out HR programs and services; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desired: Master's degree in human resources-related discipline or any that increases analytical and communication skills, and understanding of organizational/interpersonal dynamics; 10 or more years experience as a human resources generalist in a customer-focused and high tech environment; advanced capability and proficiency with computer and automation tools; experience supporting an HR department service team or business partner unit; experience working with APL policies, procedures and systems.
