The Position:
The GIS Analyst I is the entry level class which provides a training opportunity for students or entry level staff to learn on-the-job skills in preparation for a career in the GIS field. Initially, under immediate supervision, incumbents perform the more routine and less complex assignments within an established procedural framework, where there are minimal consequences of error. Learn to perform and perform a variety of technical and paraprofessional duties in the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the City’s GIS and related databases. Uses GIS software to design, create, maintain and update various maps for various City departments, consultants and the public. Maintains computerized map layers on a regularly scheduled basis. Uses AutoCAD drafting for the preparation of civil drawing for streets, storm drains, traffic signals, water system improvements and site drawings.

REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience and Requirements:
One (1) years of experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of a geographic information system, and an associate’s degree in cartography, geography, computer science, or related field.
