POSITION GOALResponsible for coordinating service, repairs, and preventative maintenance on hospital equipment. Procures materials, equipment, and parts for use by the Plant Operations Department. Retains records of hospital service contracts, preventative maintenance, service and repair. Acts as departmental secretary.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:High school graduate; some college preferred. Knowledge of Dictaphone, Business English preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, including Word for Windows, Excel, Access and Powerpoint. Extensive secretarial experience in hospital administration.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is of light demand. Walking and standing approximately 10% of work time. Sitting approximately 90% of work time. Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, carrying and transporting small objects weighing maximum of 25 pounds (lifting maximum of 35 pounds). Occasionally assists in moving heavy equipment and supply carts. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another including upward pushing. Occasional stooping, bending, crouching at the knees and waist (downward and forward). Frequent reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction. Handling, holding, fingering, grasping and turning objects regularly. Hear/speak adequately to communicate with and be understood effectively by patients, physicians and staff. Visual acuity to be able to read instructions and orders and record processƒ­ appropriately. Visual acuity with clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, depth perception to judge distance and space relationships. Color vision to identify and distinguish colors. Function appropriately and effectively under pressure. Medium to heavy phone contacts and coordinates sales interviews. May be required to work other shifts as needed. Primarily works indoors in well lighted and ventilated rooms. Temperature can be variable but primarily constant at a comfortable level. Frequently works outdoors and in dimly lit areas and low ventilated spaces. Varied temperature changes. Contact with water/liquids. Subject to noise and vibrations. Hazards include exposure to blood and body fluids, sharp objects and instruments, assorted chemicals as listed in the MSDS manual. Frequent contact with fumes, odors and exposure to vapors, mists and liquids. May be exposed to violent and abusive behaviors. Use of personal protective equipment: In this position, occupational exposure to communicable diseases and blood/bloodborne pathogens requires the use of personal protective equipment to include gloves, gowns, goggles, masks and radiation measuring devices, when in the clinical setting.
