Customer Service Technician / Shop Mechanic

Barney's Pumps is the largest, industrial, pump distributor in Florida. We have three locations in the state (Lakeland, Coral Springs, and Jacksonville) and ninety employees. Our major markets include the citrus, chemical, phosphate, and sugar industries, and local municipalities in Florida and the Caribbean. We offer a full-range of rotating equipment with all the supporting accessories including the latest in computer-based controls. We manufacture all of our own electrical controls in our wholly-owned, UL listed facility. From boiler feed pumps to touch-screen controls for landscape irrigation, we do it all.

As the Customer Service Technician and Shop Mechanic, you will be expected to perform pump station start-ups and pump repairs for various pumping equipment. The technician will be required to check and trouble shoot electrical control panels for many types of pump stations. Therefore, electrical and/or control panel knowledge is a must. Shop and field troubleshooting and repairs will be required. The technician will interact with customers, therefore, the customer service technician must be personable and be able to get along with all of our customers. Secondarily, the technician may be required to fabricate new pump packages and repair pumps and blowers.

REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in mechanic work, fabrication work (welding) and minor ability for machinist work (able to trim impellers).
Must be able to work in a safe manner for himself and with others in the shop/warehouse area.
Electrical and/or control panel knowledge is a MUST.
