Collection Technician II (Phlebotomists)

Works on bloodmobiles performing blood collections functions in strict accordance with all regulations. Responsibilities include physically setting up and breaking down at mobile sites; venipuncture; health histories, and vital signs; determining donor eligibility and promoting excellent donor care during the collection of safe blood units. Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted, 50 lbs assisted. Ability to adapt to irregular hours and frequent scheduling changes. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record as there may be frequent assignments as van driver. Excellent customer service skills, effective communications and public relations skills. Must exhibit professional and friendly demeanor. Will be involved in the conversion of whole blood donors to the Automated Collection Process. May collect automated red cells. Drive own vehicle to and from collection sites as instructed.
REQUIREMENTS
Required: High School graduate and current Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy training or equivalent years recent directly related experience. A current, valid driver’s license and good driving record. Ability to operate dielectric heat sealers which can emit a radio frequency burst that may interfere with implantable electronic devices such as pacemakers.
Desired: One (1) year prior blood collections experience; current phlebotomy clinical experience; prior medical background including patient assessment skills including vital signs.
