Claim Representative

AUTO CLAIM REPRESENTATIVE

Job Description:

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle the auto claims in an assigned area to include verification of coverage, legal liability and extent of damage to persons, and property, which may require contact by telephone, correspondence or in person
Secure releases from appropriate parties
Assist agents in the settlement of claims
May, under management's direction work with attorneys in defense of lawsuits
May prepare written or computerized estimates in loss settlement
May resolve a large volume of claim calls in a claim central environment
Interprets and applies insurance contract provisions
Learns and uses claims policies and procedures
Interprets, evaluates, and writes property damage repair estimates
May handle routine litigation files, if assigned, with appropriate management involvement or assist Level 2 Representatives in litigation
Develops and applies basic knowledge of injury, property and liability issues to handle claims within authority
Provides assignment and direction to Claim Processors
Consults with Claims management on coverage issues to determine appropriate course of action
Seeks guidance throughout the claim handling process
Learns to recognize subrogation and salvage issues
Confers with management regarding the retention of outside investigative agencies
Effectively communicates with witnesses, agents, other insurance companies, repair shops, contractors, medical providers, attorneys, and others in the course of conducting investigations
REQUIREMENTS
BACHELOR'S DEGREE STRONGLY DESIRED


Candidate must possess:
Strong customer service, communication, organization and keyboarding skills.
