The Customer Service Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance and repair of telephone and on customer premises and cable routes. The Technician will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of analog and digital private lines, DSL, and associated networking equipment. The Technician will be required to climb poles, use a shovel, pick and other tools to dig and repair cable. Attendance, conduct and performance will be considered in the selection process. The selection process is governed by the local IBW collective bargaining agreement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS


Install, maintain and repair telephone facilities and coin telephones on customer

premises and cable routes.



Knowledge/Skills:

Required:

1. Job requires specialized advanced vocational skills (generally non-theoretical)

acquired on or off the job, typically gained through a combination of education and

relevant experience, totaling 4 years post-high school or equivalent

2. High school graduate or equiv.,an assoc degree in electronics,or 2 yrs work

related experience or must have completed 12 college credit hrs in computer science

or electronics subject to company approval.

3. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license; accept call-outs and work overtime

as a condition of employment.

4. Satisfactorily complete company schools: AC/DC, Basic OSP, Service Tech MOD

1,2,3,Basic transmission and noise mitigation, and cable repair.

5. Successfully meet phys. requirements: able to distinguish colors,body wt

< than 260lbs., work aloft from ladders, platforms, poles (w/climbers), and bucket trucks

safely, lift and safely carry,set up and secure 75lb ladder load/transport a standard

nitrogen cylinder.



Preferred:

6. Possess a strong analytical and problem solving skills; possess a good attendance,

work and safety record.

7. Work from oral or written instructions with the ability to plan work w/o direct

supervision.

8. Have neat and legible handwriting.



In Addition:

9. Possess proficient personal computer operation skills.

10. Must be able to work with internal and external customers.

11. Successfully complete the trial period outlined in the labor agreement.
