Business Services Rep

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, performs billing function and analysis of patient accounts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Calculates contractuals.
2.Performs general billing functions such as secondary, rebills, appeals, rejects, and help letters.
3.Performs patient account analysis by running accounts receivable reports by aging by insurance. Provides AR reports for day in receivable and patient accounts analysis; Follows self-pay and insurance and answers questions for patients, physicians, insurance companies, attorneys, and other departments.
4.Sorts and mails guarantor statements, UB 92's, correspondence, and self-pay itemized bills.
5.Performs other duties which may include credit balance procedures such as, invoices, Medicare and Blue Cross reports and patient and insurance refunds; performs duties of Patient Administration Services Representative.
KNOWLEDGE , EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:1.Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a High School Diploma.
2.Minimum of 1 to 3 years of billing or related experience in a hospital environment.
