Bilingual Service Technician

Marathon Equipment Company, a leader in the waste and recycling equipment manufacturing industry, is seeking an energetic Service Technician to join our Technical Service Department in our Vernon, AL facility. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. The primary purpose of this position is to provide and coordinate service to Marathon Customers, both English and Spanish-speaking, in the form of troubleshooting equipment via telephone, providing general and technical information, warranty authorization, parts sales, planning and conducting training seminars, and performing field service work. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives customer inquiries regarding all company products and resolves customer problems. Includes troubleshooting assistance via telephone and ability to repair Marathon Equipment Company products in the field. • Repair machine through modems online with personal computer. Must be able to send programs to customers and communicate through e-mail. • Revise and modify engineering designs in the field to include PLC programming hydraulic and electrical circuits for more efficient operation of Marathon products. Requires thorough knowledge of Marathon products and the electrical and hydraulic systems that operate each. Also includes travel to customer location via personal vehicle or airline transportation. • Complete all aspects of order entry and follow-up on parts orders, warranty orders, and credit orders. Obtain credit approvals online. Includes calculation of prices of parts and assemblies that do not already have a selling price, and preparation of parts quotes. • The successful candidate will be required to accurately translate documents and conversations from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English. REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English, with excellent oral and written communication skills, including understanding of complex verbal and written instructions. • Excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to multi-task, and work independently. • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Understanding of electrical and hydraulic principles, as well as ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics. • Knowledge of basic accounting principles. • Associates degree, or equivalent combination of educations and experience in technical or engineering field. • Experience with Marathon Equipment Company products is preferred.
