Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by communicating the benefits of the Global Business Systems Solutions (GBSS) program and letting partners know what they can expect from the program. This is a change leadership role that uses communication messages and vehicles to influence the behaviors and shape the reactions partners have to GBSS. The primary objectives of this role are to build awareness of the program, engage partners, market the benefits to the business and keep stakeholders informed of project decisions, milestones and activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leading enterprise change efforts, will have a strong grasp of effective marketing/branding techniques, be an exceptional communicator using a variety of media and have the ability to manage multiple communication events and deliverables concurrently. He or she will be the voice of GBSS, developing the communications strategy, designing communication vehicles and coaching the team to market the program effectively and consistently. Candidate must model and act in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Developing and executing the communications strategy and plan for the GBSS program. Driving consistency across all program communications. Identifying communication opportunities to improve awareness of and support for the program. Identifying communication gaps and developing plans to fix the gaps. Drafting communications and talking points for the GBSS executive leaders. Designing and publishing regular GBSS communications (i.e., newsletter, portal page, discussion document, and stakeholder communications). Designing and managing GBSS communication events. Facilitating the development of track specific communications and aligning them with the communication strategy for the program. Coaching the program leadership team on effective marketing and communication techniques to improve acceptance of GBSS. Archiving all GBSS communications and creating a database of approved content and historical project information. Routinely monitoring the effectiveness of GBSS communications activities and adjusting the approach as appropriate. Managing multiple projects and communication vehicles that may cross business units in order to facilitate more effective communications throughout the organization. REQUIREMENTS
Summary of ExperienceProject management (3 years) Communications technology experience including e-mail, internet, intranet, extranet, portals and voicemail (2 years required; 3 years preferred) Management or supervision (2 years) Writing experience (2 years required; 5 years preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing using multiple media Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines Ability to lead through influence Ability to train others Organizational skills Ability to develop and manage integrated strategic internal communications plans Ability to evaluate proposed initiatives based on knowledge of current marketing and operations needs Ability to work with all levels of management
