Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Continuously improves practice group operations within the legal department to meet company objectives for operational excellence.
- Coordinates work with outside counsel and internal clients, manages associated costs.
- Leads and participates on project teams to deliver initiatives to support Starbucks business objectives.
- Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups on changes in policies and practices within the organization.

Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
-Prepares, reviews and negotiates legal documents relating to commercial retail leasing, land acquisitions and ongoing management of real estate portfolio.
- Ensures that Starbucks complies with regulatory requirements and filings and with commercial and contractual obligations. Manages the implementation of ongoing company compliance programs.
- Participates on cross-functional teams with business unit/ department clients to enhance the experience for Starbucks partners and customers and increase profitability, including identifying, planning, and executing opportunities for business growth and expansion.
- Provides clients with advice, counsel and training regarding legal requirements, best practices, and strategies for managing risk in order to mitigate legal exposure while helping to advance the Company's business objectives.

Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience

- Relevant substantive legal experience in a law firm or company legal department (9 years)
- Experience managing legal professionals

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
- Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes
- Ability to achieve goals through direct and indirect influence and collaboration
- Juris Doctor
- License to practice law in pertinent jurisdictions required
