Key Responsibilities

-Drafts, negotiates, reviews and comments on commercial leases for new stores and on renewal leases for existing stores. Reviews environmental reports for all new leases within an assigned geographic region including those supplied in connection with leases being negotiated by outside counsel.
-Advises Company on other real estate and asset/property management matters related to opening new stores and maintaining the Company's real estate store portfolio.
-Drafts, negotiates, reviews and comments on commercial leases for new regional training centers and offices and on renewal leases for existing facilities.
-Drafts, negotiates, reviews and comments on legal documents related to land acquisition
- Performs real estate portfolio due diligence in connection with corporate mergers and acquisitions.
- Determines when and how to engage outside counsel. Manages work of outside counsel and associated costs.
- Develops and implements systems and procedures to ensure efficient and consistent conduct of company business.
- Provides advice and counsel to Starbucks management and partners regarding legal matters and issues.
- Provides advice and training to other Legal and Corporate Affairs attorneys in area of expertise. Identifies significant risks and liabilities, and apprises others. Delegates work to paralegals and other staff, and provides leadership and guidance.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience

- Practice of law in a law firm or company Legal department (5 years)
- General real estate, commercial leasing and construction law (5 years)
